What is isopropanol?

Isopropanol is a highly concentrated secondary alcohol. It is colorless, highly volatile and flammable. It also dissolves well in water and leaves no residue.

The smell is slightly sweet, but pungent when inhaled more strongly and usually reminiscent of hospitals and medical practices, where isopropanol is commonly an ingredient in many disinfectants.

Composition of isopropanol

2-propanol, isopropyl alcohol 70% vol. / 99.9% vol.

Isopropanol contains no denatured alcohol.
Denaturation is a process used with ethanol to make it unfit for consumption. Isopropanol is generally a type of alcohol that is not suitable for drinking.

Medicalcorner24® isopropanol is available in 2 variations, one at 70% and one at 99.9%; they differ only in alcohol content. Unlike cosmetic isopropanol, Medicalcorner24® isopropanol is medicinal-grade according to the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).

H336: May cause drowsiness or dizziness.
P210: Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking.
P223: Keep container tightly closed.
P280: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
P305+P351+P338: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
P337+P313: If eye irritation persists: Seek medical advice/medical attention.
P501: Dispose of contents/container in accordance with official regulations.
