The brown short-stretch bandage is easy to put on because it has an extensibility of approx. 85%. The material consists mainly of cotton. It is suitable for thrombosis prophylaxis as well as for postoperative therapy (e.g. varicose vein sclerotherapy, vein stripping). Due to its low extensibility, it is used for venous compression (according to Pütter). A compression bandage applied over the wound dressing supports venous return and thus wound healing in chronic wounds due to venous insufficiency (e.g. leg ulcers). Each bandage is 7 m long when stretched.
